Welcome
to The Gold Coast Modular Railroad Club's
website.
Our mission is to
cultivate interest in model railroading, its
design, construction, maintenance and operation as
a hobby.
We are an HO
scale model railroad club based in the Murphy
Automobile Museum. 1530 Eastman Ave, Oxnard,
California. HOWEVER !
The
club was notified this weekend that the Murphy
Auto Museum will close at the end of June,
vacating the space on Eastman at the end of
July. So, once again, the GCMRC is looking for
a new home. If you know of a space in Ventura
County that's available and willing to rent to
a non-profit, let us know. info@gcmrc.org
We still intend
to display the traveling layout at the Ventura
County Fair this summer and are looking for other
opportunities to show it off.
We are looking
for new prospective members of all ages! We
welcome anyone who would like to participate in
our work on the layout, regardless of ability
level. Members are entitled to operate their
locomotives anytime the Museum is open, currently
Saturday & Sunday, 10 AM to 4 PM. The Murphy
Museum has frequent events at which members are
encouraged to operate their equipment on the
Railroad. You can bring and use your own
locomotives along with either your own rolling
stock or use some of the club stock we have on the
layout. Members have run trains with as many as
100 cars, pulled by 4 or 5 locos. A truly
impressive sight!
Go to
the Directions
page for directions to our club. Our Calendar page
will keep you current with what we are doing,
our meetings, events, run nights and work
nights.
